A new beginning and new blog

Welcome to TravelsWithSpirit!

I’m so excited to begin sharing with you again after a few years away from writing! I have always loved sharing what intuitively comes through to offer you support and (hopefully!) inspiration for your journey. Now more than ever is the time to come from your inner power and strength to live your highest and best life in the co-creation with Spirit.

I’ve recently come back from a 6 month travel adventure, and I’ll be sharing with you stories and things I’ve learned that allowed me to create such a magical experience. It certainly wasn’t without stress (I mean, what travel doesn’t have some of that in it!), and I certainly had to learn to pivot, let go, and become more in flow.

So without further ado, here we go with the new blog entitled - Travelswithspirit!

The First Winter Away

The idea of traveling through the winter months morphed over time. First it was 6 months in Florida. My partner Tim and I were through with the cold, wet and grey of the Pacific Northwest, so why not go to sunshine, beaches and warm? Our kids were out of the house and we had the freedom to go anywhere. I could work remotely and he just recently retired, and our passports were up-to-date. Yes!

Then I said - why limit ourselves to just Florida? There’s a very big world out there, so let’s go explore it. And so the planning and booking and ideas started flowing…

Many called it a trip of a lifetime, but I phrased it as a lifestyle choice. I chose to sell my home and move into an apartment a year prior (before the idea of traveling even came about), and downsized significantly. Then after a year in the apartment, I downsized once again now knowing we would be gone for a significant amount of time. I donated furniture, knick knacks, kitchen items, clothing and so much stuff that I truly didn’t need. I got my oldest kiddo set up in his first apartment with many of my things. I whittled my life down to about 20 boxes. It was scary at times. Who am I if I didn’t have this stuff? Isn’t this the measure of success - how much we can accumulate and show the world what we have?

I won’t buy another property in the Pacific NW - so my criteria for keeping anything was “would I ship this to the East Coast or overseas?” Do I love this item enough to store it and then pay to ship it a long distance? If the answer was wavering, then I gave it away. And at the end - wow. What a freedom it was to pare my life down to literally just the essentials. By the time we left the beginning of October, my few belongings were tucked away, I had no rent payment, no car, and I was traveling with 2 small suitcases and a large backpack. For 6 months. Less is truly more.

We did not have everything mapped out. We had the first 3 months semi-planned, but our first month which was to be in Florida got thrown up in the air when a hurricane blew through the State and literally wiped away the home we were renting. We decided to head farther South to a new location, but then a second hurricane came through! God had a plan, and it wasn’t Florida.

And so started our adventures with the idea that although you can plan, be responsible and make arrangements, Life will show up and give you opportunities. How quickly can we pivot and move with what is being presented? Can you truly let go and trust Life to lead you into your highest and best direction?

My TEDx talk is all about how to Listen.Trust.Act. I’m also a Gemini Sun/Virgo Rising, which means I love to map things out. I think a lot. And I’m really good at creating a plan and executing it. So to say I was thrown into the depths of living in flow, well, it was an opportunity to practice this idea over and over. And what better way than to do this with an amazing man in sunshine, warmth and seeing the World. An adventure of a lifetime? Nah - this is just the beginning.

To your highest and best,

Dianna
