Chosen Family, Cosmic Signs & A Costco Run
Life is more magical when I let Spirit lead the way
#21
My nomadic lifestyle has fully taken over. After wrapping up a few final appointments in Portland, squeezing in one more lunch with my parents, and visiting some beloved friends I hadn’t seen yet, I drove to Eastern Washington. There, I’ve been sleeping on the sofa in my son’s apartment for four nights — and loving every minute of it.
It’s been such a joy to spend this precious time with him and his girlfriend as he fits me into his busy life of work and school. A Costco run to stock up their fridge and the smiles on their faces? My heart is so happy! My kids are my heart wherever they go, and as an empty nester, any time together is priceless.
I want them to be independent, and without a home base for them right now, I sometimes feel ungrounded. At the same time, it nudges me forward to create that next foundation where they’ll feel comfortable visiting. As a single mom for so many years, I’m finally taking this time to live my own life. And it’s a growth edge to do that without guilt.
Doubt still creeps in when my mind gets loud. That’s when I lean on my practices — the ones that help me out of the spin. One of my greatest supports is my spiritual coach, who feels more like a beloved Auntie. Her open heart, steadfast love, and connection to Spirit always guide me back to the higher path. Archangel Michael is always present, reminding me to return to my own power and wisdom. Old patterns and stories don’t fall away overnight. It takes energy, awareness, and a willingness to sit with the feelings. I’m grateful for the ways my coach helps me navigate that road. What a blessing.
Next up, I’m traveling to Houston for a few nights with my brother and sister-in-law. This week someone mentioned visiting their “chosen family,” and that phrase really resonated. Sometimes our blood family helps us clear karma or grow, and then that season can feel complete. But family doesn’t have to follow old expectations. We can create chosen families who support where we’re expanding into. For me, my brother is both — blood family and chosen family. He’s always been a huge supporter, even when he questioned my decisions, and I’m grateful for the way we continue to lean into our relationship as we both evolve.
All this movement has me a little tired, so resting while on the road has become its own practice. Tonight I fell asleep early, and now, in the middle of the night, here I am writing. With most of our five-month trip now planned (February still unfolding), my attention is shifting to Texas. I’m exploring an area outside Dallas as a possible new home base.
It’s funny — I was born and raised there until I was 13, but I never imagined going back. Now it’s surfacing as a possibility, and I want to spend time there this spring to see how it feels. Tim and I know we’ll spend summers in the Pacific Northwest, but neither of us wants the endless grey anymore. So we’re staying open to what comes next.
I’ve been in researcher mode, messaging places about short-term furnished rentals. Then I let go and let the Universe direct me. That’s the practice: set an intention, give it attention, and then release the grip — leaving space for miracles. Life really does become more magical when I allow Spirit to lead.
On a practical note, I’ve added a few new favorites to the shop page. From waterproof Crocs to a mini microphone, you don’t have to travel to enjoy them, but if you do, they’re wonderful companions. And if you’ve been thinking about a mini getaway, or even a weekend trip to shake things up, I highly encourage it. Stepping out of our comfort zones is often what grows us into a fuller version of ourselves — as long as we choose it consciously.
And a special shout-out to my virtual assistant Sofia, who just returned from her honeymoon in Hong Kong and Thailand. Imagine my surprise when I realized she honeymooned at the same hotel Tim and I have booked for Thailand! Of all the places in the world — she lives in Italy! — what are the odds? These are the synchronicities that remind me: when we find our chosen people, Life has a magical way of connecting us across time and space. (She has more room in her schedule for more clients, so reach out to me if you are in need of a fabulous support person!)
May you find a bit of that magic this week too. Be open, and you just might see it.
To your highest and best,
Dianna
