The Power of Your Voice
How the energy behind your words shapes your life
#45
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the power of voice — not just what we say, but the energy behind the words we choose.
There is a frequency to our voice. A vibration that moves outward, often more subtly than we realize. When we speak from fear or frustration, that energy spreads. When we speak from grounded clarity, compassion, or truth, that spreads too.
Our words shape more than conversations. They shape the atmosphere around us.
In times that feel uncertain or polarized, this feels especially important. The extremes we see in the world can easily pull us into reaction. But they also offer an invitation — to speak what is authentically true for us in a grounded and loving way. Not louder. Not sharper. Just clearer.
Being in different places made this clearer to me. No matter where we went — different languages, foods, traditions — people were remarkably similar. Everyone wanted to be seen and heard and to feel valued for what they offered. To feel their life mattered in some way.
We all carry Light. And we all carry shadows we are working through.
Some people are consciously engaged in that inner work. Others are still discovering it. But either way, every interaction becomes an opportunity. A kind word, patient response, a thoughtful pause are the small choices that ripple outward more than we often realize.
And yet, choosing that kind of grounded voice isn’t always easy — especially when we’re in the middle of change.
People often think the hardest part of reinvention is the big decision: selling the house, leaving the job, moving somewhere new.
But honestly, the hardest part is the space in between. The part where you don’t fully know what comes next yet, where clarity hasn’t fully arrived. The part where old structures are gone, but the new ones aren’t solid yet.
That space can feel uncomfortable. But it’s also where something important begins to take shape. I’ve learned that sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is stay there — long enough for the next step to reveal itself.
It reminds me that growth rarely happens in the moments that feel easy. It often happens right at the edge of discomfort, when everything in us wants to retreat back to familiarity. Our brains are wired for safety, not expansion, so the unknown can feel unsettling. But allowing that space, rather than rushing to resolve it, often allows something lighter to emerge.
This is where awareness becomes powerful. Not forcing outcomes — but choosing how we show up in the middle of the unknown. Allowing thoughts that support rather than contract. Choosing words that calm rather than escalate. Choosing to stay open even when clarity isn’t immediate.
I think about this often when I reflect on my own voice. As a child, I stuttered, and for years I struggled to express myself easily. Even after the stutter lessened in high school, I still carefully monitored my words, avoiding certain sounds and speaking cautiously. It made me quieter. More observant. A deep listener.
At the time, it felt limiting. But over time, I came to see the gift in it. I learned to listen more fully. To speak more intentionally. To understand that a few well-chosen words can carry more impact than many spoken quickly.
That awareness has stayed with me. Even now, I notice how tone matters as much as content. Our thoughts shape our words, and our words shape how we experience reality. When we soften internally, our voice naturally follows.
Having Tim here again has brought another layer of growth. After months apart, we’re learning how to share space again — navigating independence and partnership in a small apartment. There are moments of adjustment, moments of humor, and moments where we’re both learning to bend a little.
I notice my own tendencies too. Wanting to create order — like arranging small things so I feel grounded. It’s a gentle reminder of how we sometimes try to control our surroundings when we’re seeking stability inside. And when I catch that, I pause. I breathe. I remember that steadiness doesn’t come from perfect conditions — it comes from within.
When I relax internally, everything around me shifts. My tone. My responses. The energy between us. And maybe that’s part of what’s been emerging for me lately.
Last week, we spent a lovely day exploring a couple of fun areas in Dallas — walking through Deep Ellum and the Bishop Arts District, enjoying great BBQ at Pecan Lodge, and simply letting the afternoon unfold. I even bought my first cowboy hat, which felt both playful and perfectly aligned with this new chapter. There was a cigar shop for Tim, ice cream, sunshine, and nothing particularly monumental — just a simple, joyful day. And it struck me that these moments matter too. Life isn’t only shaped by big decisions or major transitions. Sometimes it’s shaped by presence, by laughter, by choosing to enjoy where you are and who you’re with.
Our voice is more than sound. It’s an expression of the frequency we’re living in and creating moment by moment.
When we stay present in the in-between, when we allow discomfort without rushing to fix it, when we choose words that reflect openness rather than fear — we shift something. First in ourselves. Then in our relationships. And eventually, in the wider world around us.
We don’t need to have everything figured out. We don’t need perfect certainty. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is remain steady, speak gently, and allow clarity to unfold in its own time.
Because in that space — between what was and what’s next — our voice becomes less about reacting and more about creating.
Here’s to you expanding your voice this week — into the highest and most authentic expression of who you are that reflects the Light that you carry.
To your highest and best,
Dianna
